Have you ever wondered what happens to rainwater after it hits the ground? Rainwater that runs down our streets and off of our lawns and driveways is known as stormwater. This stormwater eventually flows into lakes and streams, after which it is evaporated back into the air, completing the water cycle.
When we aren’t careful, pollution like oil, fertilizer and chemicals on our roads and from our homes can get into stormwater. Pollution that ends up in our lakes and streams isn’t fun for the animals and plants that depend on clean water- including humans!
